Port Hedland is renowned for its Indigenous culture and history, long trains, big ships, salt piles and red dust. Port Hedland has idyllic warm weather and with its coastal location is a great spot for fishing, whale watching, crabbing and watching turtles nesting. Tour BHP Billitons’ and Dampier Salts’ Point Nelson Port Facilities and be amazed as trains kilometres long roll in and out of town carrying millions of tonnes of high grade iron ore. In contrast to the mining aspect of town, there are beautiful beaches and Pretty Pool is aptly named and perfect for a refreshing dip in the Indian Ocean.

Nestled approximately 150km inland from the Central Pilbara Coast is the amazing 200,000 hectare tropical oasis of Millstream Chichester National Park.
Huge trees, ferns, lillies, rushes and a wide variety of birds and flying foxes make Millstream one of the most pleasant stopovers in the North West.

Karijini National Park
The second largest national park in Western Australia, Karijini is one of the most spectacular sights in the Pilbara. With breathtaking gorges, crystal clear rock pools, waterfalls, and stunning scenery, a visit to Karijini is a must.
The park has a system of excellent walk trails of varying levels, for the beginner to the adventurous, which will lead you deep into the subterranean gorges and through waterfalls where you can dive into sparkling rock pools.

Karratha
Approximately three hours' drive from Port Hedland, Karratha is the youngest and fastest growing town in the Pilbara. With near perfect warm winter temperatures it is a great spot to escape the colder weather further south.
Karratha is the ideal starting point for many tours and adventure experiences in the surrounding areas including Millstream and Karijini National Parks, the magnificent Dampier Archipelago, and the Burrup Peninsula.
