Camp Activities/Program

Activities/Program

Our school camp programs incorporate a range of adventure options which encourage students to move beyond their comfort zone and experience the rewards of achievement. Through challenge, at both a personal and team level, students experience enhanced self esteem and confidence, improved communication skills and a greater sense of community with peers and teachers.
School Camp Activities are flexible; you may run your own or select a combination of the following.
All activities require the attendance of a teacher or approved parent. School staff are responsible for the general discipline and behaviour of students during activities.
Need some assistance with planning? - our experienced staff are available to assist in organising your camp. Our staff will liaise with school staff to discuss specific needs and work towards producing the most suitable program for your school.

Ropes Course

Our ‘Ropes courses’ consist of a set of individual and/or group challenges which require a combination of individual and/or team skills. It fosters selfconfidence, group support and increased physical co-ordination and agility.

Mystery Orienteering

With an emphasis on planning, team work, communication, meeting deadlines, working towards group outcomes and physical fitness; mystery orienteering involves the use of a map only. Students locate markers from the map, collect a clue and deliver to the group to solve the challenge.
A great starter activity run by Wymah Valley Holiday Park Staff, however teacher/parent assistance is required for each group.

Disc Golf

Disc golf is played much like traditional golf, however, instead of a ball and clubs, players use a flying disc (or Frisbee). Disc Golf shares the same objective as "ball golf", in completing each hole in the fewest number of strokes (or, in the case of disc golf, least number of throws). A golf disc is thrown from a tee area to a target which is the "hole". The hole can be one of a number of disc golf targets; the most common is called a Pole Hole (an elevated metal basket). As a player progresses down the fairway, he or she must make each consecutive shot from the spot where the previous throw has landed. The trees, shrubs, and terrain changes located in and around the fairways provide challenging obstacles for the golfer. Finally, the "putt" lands in the basket and the hole is completed. Disc golf shares the same joys and frustrations of traditional golf, whether it’s sinking a long putt or hitting a tree halfway down the fairway. Disc Golf is generally a teacher run activity.

Archery

Although Archery is easy to learn and does not require a lot of skill, it is an individual challenge that can be turned into a team challenge by adding a competitive edge. With our younger participants the emphasis is on fun rather than competition. Participants receive coaching from our qualified instructors on stance and technique, and how to use bows to shoot at target boards. After participants have become confident with their skills, the challenge is on for the highest score.

4 Way Volley Ball

Four-way Volley ball is chaotic, exciting and fun and can involve up to 60 players at once. A high energy game where competition runs high, 4-Way Volleyball requires 4 teams of 6 to 16 players simultaneously competing against each other. Four regulation volleyball nets extend outward from a common centre pole to 4 outside poles. Ways of scoring points can vary, depending on program design. The rules are the same as the traditional game.

4 Way Tug-o-war

4-Way Tug of War is a fun, finale type of activity. Physically exhausting and emotionally climaxing, it works for kid’s right through to corporate programs. 4 way Tug of War requires communication and tactics as well as strength to out-manoeuvre and win. A group now has a choice of cooperation or competition, pulling with or against the other groups. The fun in using this "innovative educational tool" is developing a team plan, starting the activity and then reacting to the other teams.

Nature Walk

Introduce your students to the hidden wonders of Wymah Valley Holiday Park. They will discover and identify an assortment of plants, animals and bird life that make the Wymah Valley their home.
